Destin is known for attracting beach-goers, but the pristine area of Northwest Florida is also a virtual mecca for walkers and hikers. At Vein Center of Florida & South Baldwin, we encourage our patients to get out and explore the beauty of our region on foot whenever possible. In addition to enjoying the great outdoors, your veins will get the workout they need to remain as healthy as possible throughout your life. Check out these favorite walking spots of the Vein Center staff.

Blackwater Heritage State Trail

This 10-mile trail is located just northeast of Pensacola and features a paved walking surface and five different trailheads to choose from. There are also plenty of restrooms along the route, making this the perfect hike for walkers of all ages and fitness levels. One trailhead even boasts nearby parking and restaurants, allowing you to make a full day of your adventure. A visitor center provides information about sights to see along the trail and other natural attractions in the area.

Timpoochee Trail

This 19-mile trail has become a bit rough for bikers but continues to be a popular spot for walkers. The paved walkway follows the tree-lined Emerald Coast, offering shady spots to get your workout in. The trail winds through charming coastal communities and offers breathtaking glimpses of the shoreline and sand dunes that flock this portion of the Florida coast. The path can be picked up anywhere along Scenic Highway 30-A between Inlet Beach and Dune Allen.

Henderson Beach Nature Trail

Henderson Beach is a popular spot for Florida families, with camping, fishing and picnic areas. The beach is also home to the Henderson Beach Nature Trail, a short but scenic walkway that provides a glorious view of the park from atop one of the highest dunes. The trail jogs through natural vegetation known as Coastal Scrub and offers a pleasant workout for two-legged and four-legged visitors alike.

Grayton Beach Nature Trail

Grayton Beach State Park boasts one of the state’s only coastal dune lakes with fresh water within a few steps of the ocean. In addition, the pristine natural vegetation and breathtaking ocean views make this nature trail another top choice for Florida hikers. The one-mile Grayton Beach Nature Trail is open year-round and other trails within the system, such as the Barrier Dunes Nature Trail, provide plenty of spots for exploring.
